Rock & Water Program is well known throughout school education systems around the world since it was written in the mid 1990’s. The Rock & Water program is an experience that provides young people and adults a pathway to self-awareness, and increased self-confidence and social functioning.
The program was initially developed in response to a perception that traditional educational programs were unable to support young people in key aspects of their development.
Rhythm2Recovery delivers therapeutic programs and professional development, that utilise fun and engaging rhythmic musical activities to support social and emotional development. Based on the latest neuro-science.
This approach has been shown to support increased emotional regulation, improved social connection and reduced levels of anxiety and other elements of psychological distress.
Rock and Water Training Queensland is a Gadaku Institute accredited organisation. We are the only recognised organisation in Queensland to be able to deliver the Rock and Water Program and all of the training workshops. This includes Rock and Water training designed for boys and girls in primary school, or secondary school, youth work, mental care and children with autism spectrum disorders.
Delivering the R2R program for the cohort of students at my school has been an amazing experience. I never come away from a day of teaching without being surprised. The connections that students are able to make with each other during lessons is a very special thing to be a part of. Watching the level of students’ anxiety reduce over the term of the R2R teaching block is quite remarkable. Watching the students’ rhythmic skills and confidence develop from engaging in the lessons is unmeasurable. We get to see transferable effects into the classroom on levels of concentration to more engagement and calmer students. Michelle Griffin, Redcliffe Special School
Wonderful; it has equipped me with some great fun & thought-provoking tools to explore young people’s lives. Warren Adair, Youth worker, Gippsland, Victoria
More than anything else I was looking for a course that could deliver social understanding, self-confidence and empowerment for my students; this course delivered 10/10, Kylie Bishop, Bold Park Community School, WA
I loved these two days – I have grown both professionally and personally as a result of this program, Sue Waterhouse, Principal, Merriwa PS, WA
Rhythm2Recovery extended my previous training with Simon and his DRUMBEAT program, furthering my repertoire and introducing a highly flexible approach to help children build effective personal and pro-social skills, Donna Forfylow, Principal, Mount Royal School
The most enjoyable and relevant training I have had – I feel inspired both professionally and personally, Sofia Awadalla, School Counsellor, Catholic Education
Through the art of authentic storytelling our facilitator (Tim) seamlessly linked ancient philosophies and contemporary research to the core theoretical concepts of ‘Rock and Water’. This, coupled with a comprehensive introduction to over 80 practical activities that further reinforced program concepts, empowered my team and I with the skills, knowledge and confidence to immediately introduce the program at our site". Orio Denti, Director of Alternative Learning, Playford International College
The three-day Rock and Water training was life-changing for me both personally and professionally. The concepts aim to empower children but are relevant across the board for all ages as the Rock and Water approach to teaching makes all topics easily relatable and accessible. It is a very active, hands-on, practical, program that is taught in a very supportive environment and I will be using these concepts, activities and discussion points for the rest of my career. I cannot recommend this course highly enough". Felicity Partington, Moonta Area School
"Rock and Water reminds us why we began teaching in the first place. The games bring fun back to the classroom and the social emotional learning focus gets to the heart of preparing students for a successful life. At the end of the course I felt equipped to re-engage and inspire my students". Natascha Gacia, Deputy Principal, Busselton
"The Rock and Water professional development was a game changer for me. I found myself continually making connections with elements of the program and the subjects and themes I teach at my school, not only for the Rock and Water sessions. I firmly believe from this training that Rock and Water is a pedagogy that enables teachers to assist students become aware of themselves mentally, social and physically, their peers and their environment and give strategies to elicit change". Nick Gloede, Immanuel College
Why didn’t I know about this course earlier? My children are now 18 and 21yrs old and I desperately needed this when they were 5 and 8yrs old. This course would have changed their lives and mine dramatically. It has given me an insight into the thoughts, actions and behaviour of not just my own children but myself. I now know what a powerful tool it is for teachers. Absolutely brilliant!! Parent and Chaplin Yatala Gold Coast 2017
The Rock and Water program I found to be extremely motivating and educational on a personal and professional level. I am inspired to make my teaching more fun, practical and engaging for boys and girls. My tolerance of boys I feel will be much greater due to a better understanding of why they behave like they do. The reflection personally on my attitudes towards others and ideas has been challenged and it is great to realise you are much stronger than you thought. Sometimes in life you lose yourself and forget the importance of self-respect and self-belief.
